"The critic leaves at curtain fall
To find, in starting to review it,
He scarcely saw the play at all
For starting to review it."

This reminds me a little of when I go down to the beach during the sunset, so many people are taking photographs-- I like to too, love photography-- but some seem to forget to just enjoy it! In addition to capturing it.
ReplyDeleteI'm so pleased Katherine that you stopped by and left a comment. This is the second time I've posted a Poesy Crevice and you are my first comment.
ReplyDeleteAs a book reviewer I can hunt and peck so to speak looking for what I like or don't like about a book, or looking for symbolism, or how I feel about characters or plot; but forget to enjoy the book.
Sometimes I feel this way myself, if I'm reading a book I know I'm going to blog about.
ReplyDeleteI love E.B. White :)
It reminds me of how many parents I see these days filming events in their kids' lives - not seeing them.
ReplyDeleteI sort of agree with Lisa May, although to document something is not the same as withdraw and critique it. I sometimes find myself so engaged in pointing out the problems with the nuances that I don't see a piece as a whole. And if I can't see it that way then I am completely missing it because it is not only parts that make up a whole.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for taking part in this discussion!
